Installing a mouse driver in DOS 6.22

DOS didn’t originally come with mouse drivers. mouse.com or similarly came on a disk with your Microsoft PS/2 mouse or similar.

If you’re looking for a current mouse driver for DOS on old PCs or running in a VM, I just found an open source project CuteMouse recommended and it works great with DOS 6.22 running under UTM/QEMU

  1. Any tips on getting it to work with a USB mouse in DOS 6.2.2?
I have a USB mouse and keyboard with Legacy USB Support enabled in the BIOS. That’s necessary or my KB won’t work I tried the Bret Johnson drivers four hours and simply cannot get it to work.

With CuteMouse, the controls are all wacky because its coded for Serial or PS2.
