Hibernate3.0 RC1 released this week

Release Candidate 1 of Hibernate3.0 has been released this week, in time for the JBoss World 2005 conference in Atlanta.

I spoke with Christian Bauer at the JBossWorld Reception this evening, and he is recommending to now move from Hibernate 2.1.x to Hibernate3.0, saying that “it’s 99.9% production ready”.

Features that look particularly interesting:

  • Query filters integrted with security permissions
  • ability to specify handcoded SQL to replace generated SQL from HQL
  • Runtime second level cache browser
