Apple to release Mac based on Sony/IBM/Toshiba’s Cell processor?

eWeek has an article today considering the possibility that Apple may use Sony, IBM and Toshiba’s upcoming Cell processor, a ‘supercomputer on a chip’ in their Macs.

The Cell is similar in architecture to the current IBM PowerPC processors, although highly optimised for multimedia applications and is going to appear first as the processor in the new Playstation 3 consoles.
