BEA hurting from open source pressure

Industry analysts are saying that BEA’s stock price is suffering from competition from open source application server alternatives such as JBoss and Geronimo.

In particular BEA’s main competitor, IBM, recently purchased GlueCode, who develop support software for the Germonimo open source application server. This gives IBM an open source alternative that they can leverage and push as an entry level alternative to their own commerical (read ‘big $$$’) application server, Websphere.
