Pressure to open source Java prompted Sun (about a year ago?) to allow developers to download the source and snapshot builds of upcoming new JDK releases. Yesterday they announced the first beta release of Java SE 6. This is incredible as it seems that we’ve only had SE 5 for a short period of time.
