Microsoft have lagged behind in the mobile phone OS market, Windows Mobile in all it’s current and prior incarnations is just a shoddy mess in terms of usability for a small form factor device. ‘Pink’ looks like an evolution from Danger’s Sidekick (who they bought out recently), which most likely they’ll also completely hose when they stuff the next version of Windows Mobile 7 into it. Time will tell.
First day at work – here’s your OpenSolaris machine in text mode
I don’t think I could ever do this to anyone, but this video set-up of a new employee being pranked on his first day with his new PC booted into text mode Open Solaris is pretty funny to watch his reactions.
COBOL – still alive and kicking
This is an interesting article on the longevity of COBOL – apparently there’s still 200 billion lines of COBOL code still running in live systems today. That’s incredible.
Countdown Droid downloads in only a few hours
In only a few hours since I published my first Android app I’ve already had 82 downloads and 3 comments, and been rated 3.5/5. A couple of good comments too, so I’ll take a look at adding those features as an update.
This was an experiment to learn the Android API, but also out of curiosity to see if you offer an app for free and place banner ads in it, how many page impressions/clicks can you get from a free mobile app? I’ll be posting an update at the end of the month.
